Welfare Updates: Free Bus Travel for Women and Household Power Subsidies

Recent government orders expand fare-free bus rides for women and provide subsidized electricity for homes across the state.

Under Rule 110, CM C. Joseph Vijay announced the first phase of Annapoorani Super Six — three free LPG cylinders a year for about 1.30 crore families from Pongal 2027, at above ₹4,000 crore a year. Vettri Payanam was widened to women and transgender persons on all service types with no income ceiling from 2 October 2026, at about ₹6,000 crore a year. The Parandur greenfield airport project was abandoned, ending the Ekanapuram protest on its 1,100th day.
